CERN(Avrupa Nükleer Araştırma Merkezi) her yaz dünyanın her yerinden bilim insanlarını ve öğretmenleri bir araya getiren Uluslar arası Lise Öğretmen Programı (International High School Teacher Programme-HST) ve Uluslararası Öğretmen Programı (International Teacher Weeks Programme-ITW) adlı iki adet eğitim gerçekleştirmektedir. Bu eğitimlerin amacı öğretmenlerin;parçacık fiziği alanındaki gelişimlerini desteklemek, Büyük Hidron Çarpıştırıcısında (Large Hadron Collider-LHC) birinci sınıf araştırma atmosferini deneyimlemek, modern fiziği sınıflara ve dışına taşımak, farklı ülkelerden öğretmenlerle bilgi, deneyim alışverişi sağlamak ve CERN’in tüm dünya okullarıyla daha yakın bağlantı kurmasını sağlamaktır. Bu eğitimlerde dersler, yerinde ziyaretler, uygulamalı çalıştaylar, tarışmalar, soru cevap oturumları ve program sonu final rapor sunumları yapılacaktır.
Every summer, CERN (Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire) organizes two trainings, the International High School Teacher Programme (HST) and the International Teacher Weeks Programme (ITW), which bring together scientists and teachers from all over the world. The aim of these trainings is to support teachers’ development in particle physics, to experience the first-class research atmosphere at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), to bring modern physics into and out of the classroom, to exchange knowledge and experience with teachers from different countries, and to enable CERN to establish closer links with schools around the world. These trainings will include lectures, on-site visits, hands-on workshops, discussions, question and answer sessions and final report presentations at the end of the program.
4-17 Ağustos 2019 tarihleri arasında düzenlenen Uluslararası Öğretmen programına 6 kıta, 39 farklı ülkeden toplam 48 öğretmen katıldı. 48 öğretmenden biri olarak ülkemi temsil etme şansı yakaladım. Büyük heyecan ve mutlulukla yola çıktığım CERN Uluslararası öğretmen programı için Cenevredeydim. İlk gün tanışma etkinliği sayesinde dünyanın 6 kıta ve 39 farklı ülkesinden 47 meslektaşımla tanışma ve sohbet etme fırsatı buldum. Tanışma etkinliği sonrasında CERN kampüsünü keşfetmeye başladık. A total of 48 teachers from 6 continents and 39 different countries participated in the International Teacher Program held between 4-17 August 2019. As one of the 48 teachers, I had the chance to represent my country. I was in Geneva for the CERN International teacher program, which I set out with great excitement and happiness. On the first day, I had the opportunity to meet and chat with 47 colleagues from 6 continents and 39 different countries of the world thanks to the introduction event. Programın şüphesiz en güzel kısmı ise CERN deneylerinin gerçekleştiği tesislere olan ziyaretlerdi.Synchrocyclotron (İlk hızlandırıcı), Cryogenic Test Merkezi, Microcosm, GLOBE, CMS ve ALİCE dedektörleri, Data Merkezi, CERN Kontrol Merkezi ve Anti madde Merkezini gezerek yapılan tüm çalışmalar hakkında bilgi aldık.
We visited the Synchrocyclotron (the first accelerator), the Cryogenic Test Center, the Microcosm, the GLOBE, CMS and ALICE detectors, the Data Center, the CERN Control Center and the Antimatter Center and were informed about all the work being done.
Tüm bu teorik ders ve gezilerin yanı sıra grup içi sosyalleşmemizi ve farklı kültürleri tanımamız sağlamak için sosyal aktiviteler de mevcuttu. Bunlardan ilki Bowling ve pizza gecesiydi. (Kendi grubumda birinci olarak olimpiyat madalyası almış kadar sevinmiştim.) İkincisi Cenevrenin en meşhur yemeklerinden biri olan Chesse Fondü (tavsiye edilmez) yediğimiz yemekti. Üçüncü sosyal etkinliğimiz uluslararası hediyeleşme gecesiydi. Bu gecede İngiltereden gelen arkadaşıma şehrimi tanıtan Lületaşı ve tüm katılımcılara lokum (baklava isteyenler ise oldukça çoktu) hediye ettim. Son olarak kapanış yemeğimizde ise Fransız mutfağına konuk olduk. Bunların dışında haftasonu küçük kaçamaklar yaparak Annecy ve Chamonix’i gezerek Avrupanın en büyük dağı olan Mont Blanc Dağını görmüş oldum.
In addition to all these theoretical lectures and excursions, there were also social activities to help us socialize within the group and get to know different cultures. The first one was bowling and pizza night (I was as happy as if I had won an Olympic medal by coming first in my group.) The second one was Chesse Fondue (not recommended), one of the most famous dishes in Genoa. Our third social event was the international gift-giving night. At this night, I presented my friend from the UK with meerschaum and Turkish delight to all the participants (there were many people who wanted baklava). Finally, at our closing dinner, we were guests of French cuisine. Apart from these, I made small getaways during the weekend and visited Annecy and Chamonix and saw Mont Blanc, the largest mountain in Europe.
Tabi ki derslerin ve gezilerin bitiminde yani programın son gününde grup çalışmaları sonucunda hazırladığımız sunuları gerçekleştirerek eğitimi sonlandırdık. Belgelerimizi ve hediyelerimizi alarak CERN bilim elçisi olup ülkelerimize geri döndük. Şimdi sıra bu eğitimin bana kazandırdığı bilgi ve tecrübeleri çocuklara, gençlere ve meslektaşlarıma aktarıp ülkemin bilimsel gelişimine katkı sağlamakta.
Of course, at the end of the lessons and excursions, that is, on the last day of the program, we ended the training by making the presentations we prepared as a result of group work. We received our documents and gifts and returned to our countries as CERN science ambassadors. Now it is time to transfer the knowledge and experience that this training has given me to children, young people and my colleagues and contribute to the scientific development of my country.
